Built a dynamic model that forecast the March 2026 position, tested productivity improvements and identified the activity and capacity gaps requiring action.
Created a weekly view of booked, available and required capacity, separating theatre and outpatient requirements for use in access meetings.
Developed a lightweight model that specialty managers could update quickly at specialty, site, sub-specialty or consultant level.
Trained local business intelligence and operational teams, supplied documentation and delivered recorded handover sessions so the tools could be maintained after the programme.
Three operational demand and capacity tools were built and transferred to the trust. The modelling established the activity plan adjustments required to meet the March 2026 RTT targets and each specialty submitted a recovery plan to address the gaps identified.
Operational managers can now model specific sub-specialty and consultant-level challenges, while the trust can continue adapting the tools as demand, capacity and national requirements change.
The programme also gave the national team assurance against the three RTT targets and embedded longer-term modelling capability within the organisation.
